Our Roots
Our story began in the late 1970s, when a group of researchers at the Oregon Graduate Center launched a research project on the micropropagation of tree crops. Inspired by their discoveries, the four research partners, Adams Rootstock Inc., Stark Brothers, TRECO®, and A. McGill and Son, came together in 1980 under one name: Microplant Nurseries.
Over the past four decades, our team at Microplant has grown tremendously while pioneering the technique of large-scale, commercial micropropagation. Driven by the words of our first CEO, Gayle Suttle, she believed…

We now produce millions of Microplants each year. While our original focus was on trees, we soon expanded, getting our hands dirty with ornamental shrubs, blueberries, hazelnuts, raspberries, hops, grapes, perennials, timber products, and bulb crops. There really isn’t anything we won’t at least try to put in a culture.
